The Gentry are a group of powerful individuals that garner respect throughout Vespirian. Each Gentry was a normal Fey denizen before being chosen by one of the Archfey. They are then ascended to the role of Gentry. Each Gentry has powers over certain aspects of their respecitive Archefey's power. Currently the only documented member of the Gentry is Oberon who represents the season of Autumn. Oberon is a Gentry of Tempus Aevum.
It is a rare occurrence for a fey adventurer to receive the boon of ascension to the rank of Gentry upon completing a trial at a Leyspring. Should an individual achieve this transformation, they become a living embodiment of one aspect of their patron Archfey’s specific domain.
Tempus Aevum maintains at least four such Gentry within his service, each personifying one of the eternal seasons. The domain of Vis Perpituus includes Gentry who govern concepts such as Fire, Death, and War. Meanwhile, Dolus Astus has elevated servants to oversee Illusions, Dreams, and the binding nature of Oaths. These named entities represent only a fraction of their total number; additional Gentry exist across the hidden reaches, and new ones may be raised whenever an Archfey sees fit. Their authority is far from uniform, as they differ significantly in their personal strength, magical capacity, and influence.
Throughout Vespirian, the mortal populace treats these great Gentry with reverence, while certain factions offer them veneration as minor deities. The Gentry themselves view this mortal devotion with varying degrees of regard. Many treat their followers with the same cold indifference demonstrated by the Archfey. Others retain fragments of their former mortal temperaments, occasionally acknowledging the supplications and offerings presented to them.
As a general rule, the Gentry do not hold formal rule over mortal nations, with the notable exception of Queen Sybilia of Astel. A select number among them convene as the Twilight Council, exerting a broader governance across Vespirian. Readers seeking a detailed examination of this body should consult my dedicated chapter regarding the Council.
